Do not let the Egyptians say: 'He was planning all along to kill them in the mountains and wipe them off the face of the earth. That is why he brought them out of our land.' Do not be so angry. Reconsider your decision to bring this disaster on your people.

Moses said to Jehovah: You brought these people out of Egypt by your power. When the Egyptians hear what you have done to your people,

Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations.

It is because these people are so wicked that Jehovah your God is forcing them out of your way. It is also because Jehovah wants to confirm the promise he swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Out of all the people on the face of the earth Jehovah has chosen you to be a people for His own possession.

I have loved you, said Jehovah. You replied: How have you loved us? Was Esau Jacob's brother? Responded Jehovah: Yet I loved Jacob.

Yes, Father, for it was very pleasing in your sight.

You did not choose me. I chose you and appointed you. You should go and bear fruit and your fruit should remain. Whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

For who made you superior to (different than) another? What do you have that you did not receive? If you did receive it, why do you brag, as if you did not receive it?
