In the spring, at the time of the year when kings usually go to war, David sent out Joab with his officers and the Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged the city of Rabbah. David stayed in Jerusalem.

So David did everything Saul sent him to do successfully. Saul made him a commander in his army. This pleased the people and Saul's servants.

I have more insight than all my teachers, for your laws are my meditation.

The king found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his entire realm. This was in every matter of wisdom and understanding.

I will give you ability to talk and words of wisdom, which your adversaries shall not be able to resist or refute.

Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of his godly (holy) ones.

You came to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen and precious with God.
