For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, 'They are tangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.'

The enemy said, 'I will follow and overtake them, and will divide the spoil: I will satisfy my lust upon them: I will draw my sword, and mine hand shall destroy them.'

And it was told the Gazites, that Samson was come thither. And they went about and laid a wait for him all night in the gate of the city, but were still all the night, saying, "Tarry till the morning that it be day, and then let us kill him."

And David abode in the wilderness in strongholds, and in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him all his life, but God delivered him not into his hand.

And the men of David said unto him, "See, the day is come of which the LORD said unto thee, 'Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, and thou shalt do with him what it pleaseth thee.'" Then David arose and cut off the tip of Saul's coat privily.

The said Abishai to David, "God hath closed in thine enemy unto thine hand this day. Now therefore let me smite him a fellowship with my spear to the earth, even one stroke, and I will not smite him the second time."

the praise of the ungodly hath been short, and that the joy of the hypocrites continued but the twinkling of an eye?

For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take their counsel together,

For the days shall come upon thee; that thy enemies shall cast a bank about thee, and compass thee round and keep thee in on every side;
