And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?
1 Samuel 26:19
Now therefore, I pray you, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. The words of a talebearer are like tasty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the body.
The north wind brings forth rain: so does a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
Where no wood is, there the fire goes out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceases.
If a ruler hearkens to lies, all his servants are wicked.
Also take not to heart all words that are spoken; lest you hear your servant curse you:
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
