And the LORD said unto Moses, "Behold, thy days are come, that thou must die. Call Joshua and come and stand in the tabernacle of witness, that I may give him a charge." And Moses and Joshua went and stood in the tabernacle of witness.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves but give room unto the wrath of God. For it is written, "Vengeance is mine, and I will reward, saith the Lord."

"'Vengeance is mine, and I will reward! Their feet shall slide, when the time cometh. For the time of their destruction is at hand, and the time that shall come upon them maketh haste.'

And now my lord as sure as the LORD liveth and as thy soul liveth, the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood and from avenging thyself with thine own hand. Furthermore, I pray God that thine enemies and they that intend to do my lord evil, may be as Nabal.

The LORD be judge, and judge between thee and me, and see and plead my cause, and judge me free out of thine hand."

Is not the life of man upon earth a very battle? Are not his days like the days of a hired servant?

The days of man are short, the number of his months are known only to thee. Thou hast appointed him his bounds; he cannot go beyond them.

May a dead man live again? All the days of this my pilgrimage am I looking, till my changing shall come.

Suffer yet a little while, and the ungodly shall be clean gone; thou shalt look after his place, and he shall be away.

O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; thou God to whom vengeance belongeth, show thyself.

He shall recompense them their wickedness, and destroy them in their own malice: yea the LORD our God shall destroy them.

There is a time to be born, and a time to die. There is a time to plant, and a time to pluck up the thing, that is planted;

And shall not God avenge his elect, which cry night and day unto him? Yea though he defer them:

And as it is appointed unto men that they shall once die, and then cometh the judgment,

Therefore shall her plagues come at one day; death, and sorrow, and hunger, and she shall be burnt with fire: for strong is the Lord God which judgeth her.
