Summary

And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

Why hast

Saul disguised himself. He put on different clothes. After dark he went with two of his men to see the woman. Consult the spirits for me and tell me what is going to happen, he said to her: Call up the spirit of the man I name.

I am sore

You mourn at last, when your flesh and your body are consumed.

The faithless in heart will be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from above.

You have done this to yourself by abandoning Jehovah your God when he led you on his way.

God

Samuel took the olive oil and anointed David in front of his brothers. Immediately the Spirit of Jehovah took control of David and was with him from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

Saul was afraid of David, because Jehovah was with David but left Saul.

She shouted: Samson! The Philistines are coming! He woke up and thought: I will get loose and go free, as always. He did not know that Jehovah had left him.

Do not force me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me.

Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them until no man is left. Yes, woe to them even when I depart from them!

Then he will tell those on his left: 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the ever-burning fire that is prepared for the Devil and his [fallen] angels.

Answereth

So he asked Jehovah what to do. But Jehovah did not answer him. He did not answer by dreams or by the use of Urim and Thummim or by prophets.

He asked Jehovah: Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Jehovah answered: Yes, Attack them and save Keilah.

Therefore

He was in great torment in the grave (hades). He looked up and saw Abraham, far away, with Lazarus at his side.
