Some men's sins are perfectly evident, and lead them right on to judgment, but there are others whose sins only dog their steps.

You, brothers, must pick out from your number seven men of good standing, who are wise and full of the Spirit, and we will put them in charge of this matter,

So I would have young women marry and have children and keep house and avoid giving our opponents any excuse for abusing us.

I intend to do what is right not only in the Lord's sight but in the eyes of men.

and avoiding every kind of evil.

and to be sensible, pure-minded, domestic, kind, and submissive to their husbands, so as not to bring reproach on God's message.

If you are being abused for the sake of Christ, you are blessed, because the glorious Spirit of God is resting upon you.

The snare

But men who want to get rich fall into temptations and snares and many foolish, harmful cravings, that plunge people into destruction and ruin.

and they may yet return to their senses and escape from the toils of the devil, who has caught them to make them do his will.
