Brothers, we ask you to show your appreciation for those who work among you, set an example for you in the Lord, and instruct you.

The islanders honored us in many ways, and when we were about to sail again, they supplied us with everything we needed.

Yes, they were eager to do this, and in fact they are obligated to help them, for if the gentiles have shared in their spiritual blessings, they are obligated to be of service to them in material things.
