As I begged you to do when I was on my way to Macedonia, I still beg you to stay on in Ephesus to warn certain teachers

But I beg you, brothers, to keep on the lookout for those who stir up divisions and put hindrances in your way, in opposition to the instruction that you had, and always avoid them.

I am astonished that you are beginning so soon to turn away from Him who called you by the favor of Christ, to a different good news,

To wholesome

the immoral, men who practice sodomy, men who make other men their slaves, liars, perjurers, or anything else that is contrary to sound teaching,

Continue to be an example in wholesome instructions which you learned from me, in the faith and love that come through union with Christ Jesus.

For a time will come when they will not listen to wholesome teaching, but to gratify their own evil desires will surround themselves with teachers who teach to gratify their own evil desires, because their ears are itching so to be tickled,

and a man who continues to cling to the trustworthy message as he was taught it, so that he may be competent to encourage others with wholesome teaching and to convict those who oppose him.

It is a message to be trusted, and I want you to be emphatic about these things, so that those who believe in God may be careful to take the lead in doing good. These things are right and render service to mankind.

and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. And I myself will surely be with you all the days, down to the very close of an age."

Now, brothers, we ask and beg you, in the face of our union with the Lord Jesus, as you once received from us how you ought to live so as to please God -- as indeed you are living -- to continue to live this life better and better.
