8 namely, from their descendants who were left after them in the land whom the sons of Israel had not destroyed, (E)them Solomon raised as forced laborers to this day.

8 But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.

8 their descendants who remained in the land after them, those the Israelites had not completely destroyed—Solomon imposed forced labor on them; it is this way today.(E)

8 were descendants of the nations whom the people of Israel had not eliminated. Solomon put them to work as conscripted laborers, which they continue to do to this day.

9 But Solomon made no servants of the sons of Israel for his work, but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

9 But Solomon did not make slaves for his work from the sons of Israel; they were men of war, his chief captains and commanders of his chariots and his horsemen.

9 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.

9 But Solomon did not consign the Israelites to be slaves for his work; they were soldiers, commanders of his captains, and commanders of his chariots and his cavalry.

9 However, Solomon never made conscripted laborers from among the Israelis, but they did serve as his army, as his chief captains, and as commanders in charge of his chariots and cavalry.

11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the LORD hath come.

11 Solomon brought the daughter of Pharaoh from the city of David to the house he had built for her,(F) for he said, “My wife must not live in the house(b) of David king of Israel because the places the ark of the Lord has come into are holy.”

11 Later, Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter from the City of David to the palace that he had constructed to house her, because he reasoned, "My wife isn't going to live in the palace where King David of Israel lived, because wherever the ark of the LORD entered is holy."

Public Worship Established At The Temple

12 Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on (G)the altar of the Lord which he had built before the porch;

12 Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,

12 At that time(G) Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on the Lord’s altar he had made in front of the portico.(H)

12 Solomon offered burnt offerings to the LORD on the LORD's altar that he had built in front of the porch of the Temple,

13 even as the duty of every day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, three times in the year, [even] in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feas

13 and (H)did so according to the daily rule, offering them up (I)according to the commandment of Moses, for (J)the sabbaths, (K)the new moons and the (L)three annual feasts—the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths.

13 Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

13 He followed the daily requirement(I) for offerings according to the commandment of Moses(J) for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Booths.(K)

14 According to the ordinances of his father David, he appointed the divisions of the priests over their service,(L) of the Levites over their responsibilities to offer praise and to minister before the priests following the daily requirement,(M) and of the gatekeepers by their divisions with respect to each gate,(N) for this had been the command of David, the man of God.(O)

14 Following proscriptions laid down by his father David, Solomon appointed divisions of priests for their service as well as descendants of Levi for duties of praise and ministry before the priests consistent with the daily rules. Furthermore, because David, the man of God, had commanded it, Solomon also appointed gatekeepers to serve by divisions at every gate of the Temple.

15 And they did not departed from the commandment of the king to the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

15 And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

15 They did not turn aside from the king’s command regarding the priests and the Levites concerning any matter or concerning the treasuries.(P)

15 They scrupulously adhered to the orders issued by the king to the priests and descendants of Levi in everything, including matters pertaining to operation of the treasuries.

16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared from the day of the foundation of the house of LORD, and until it was finished. [So] the house of LORD was completed.

16 Thus all the work of Solomon was carried out (g)from the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was completed.

16 Now all the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was perfected.

16 All of Solomon’s work was carried out from the day the foundation was laid for the Lord’s temple until it was finished. So the Lord’s temple was completed.

16 And so Solomon completed all of the work, from the day that the foundation stone of the LORD's Temple was laid until the LORD's Temple was completely finished.
