11 When Jehu came out to his master’s servants, they asked, “Is everything all right? Why did this crazy person(K) come to you?”Then he said to them, “You know the sort and their ranting.”

12 They said, “It is a lie, tell us now.” And he said, “Thus and thus he said to me, ‘Thus says the Lord, “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’”
12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel.
12 But they replied, “That’s a lie! Tell us!”So Jehu said, “He talked to me about this and that and said, ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’”

14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (W)Now Joram (d)with all Israel was (e)defending Ramoth-gilead against Hazael king of Aram,
14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.
14 Then Jehu son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram.(O) Joram and all Israel had been at Ramoth-gilead on guard against Hazael king of Aram.
14 Meanwhile, Jehoshaphat's son Jehu, the grandson of Nimshi, had been conspiring against Joram while Joram and all the army of Israel had been defending Ramoth-gilead against King Hazael from Aram.
14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram [to dethrone and kill him]. Now Joram with all Israel was protecting Ramoth-gilead against Hazael king of Aram (Syria),
Jehu The Assassin
15 but (X)King (f)Joram had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had (g)inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. So Jehu said, “If this is your mind, then let no one escape or (h)leave the city to go tell it in Jezreel.”
15 But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.
15 But King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted on him when he fought against Aram’s King Hazael. Jehu said, “If you commanders wish to make me king, then don’t let anyone escape from the city to go tell about it in Jezreel.”
15 King Jehoram had returned to Jezreel to recover from wounds he had sustained from the Arameans when he had fought against King Hazael from Aram. So Jehu concluded, "Since this is what you've decided, then let no one get away, leave the city, and go report to Jezreel!"
Jehu Kills Joram And Ahaziah
16 Then Jehu rode in a chariot and went to Jezreel, for Joram was lying there. (Y)Ahaziah king of Judah had come down to see Joram.

17 Now the watchman was standing on the tower in Jezreel and he saw the (i)company of Jehu as he came, and said, “I see a (j)company.” And Joram said, “Take a horseman and send him to meet them and let him say, ‘Is it peace?’”
17 And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?
17 Now the watchman(P) was standing on the tower in Jezreel. He saw Jehu’s troops approaching and shouted, “I see troops!”Joram responded, “Choose a rider and send him to meet them and have him ask, ‘Do you come in peace?’”(Q)
17 While the watchman was standing guard in the tower at Jezreel, he watched Jehu's entourage arrive. So he called out, "I see a group arriving." Joram ordered, "Take a horseman, send him out to meet them, and have him ask, "Have you come in peace?'"
18 So a horseman went to meet him and said, “Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’” And Jehu said, “(Z)What have you to do with peace? Turn behind me.” And the watchman (k)reported, “The messenger came to them, but he did not return.”
18 So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.
18 So a horseman went to meet Jehu and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’”Jehu replied, “What do you have to do with peace?(c) Fall in behind me.”The watchman reported, “The messenger reached them but hasn’t started back.”
18 So a horseman went out, greeted Jehu and said, "This is what the king said: "Have you come in peace?'" But Jehu responded, "What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me." The watchman reported, "The messenger arrived there, but he hasn't returned."
18 So the horseman went to meet him and said, “Thus says the king: ‘Do you come in peace?’” And Jehu said, “What have you to do with peace? Rein in behind me.” And the watchman reported, “The messenger approached them, but he has not returned.”
19 Then he sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, “Thus says the king, ‘Is it peace?’” And Jehu (l)answered, “What have you to do with peace? Turn behind me.”
19 Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.
19 So he sent out a second horseman, who went to them and said, “This is what the king asks: ‘Do you come in peace?’”Jehu answered, “What do you have to do with peace?(d) Fall in behind me.”
19 Then Joram sent out a second horseman, who went out to them and said, "This is what the king said: "Have you come in peace?'" Jehu responded, "What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me."
19 Then Joram sent out a second horseman, who approached them and said, “Thus says the king: ‘Do you come in peace?’” Jehu replied, “What have you to do with peace? Rein in behind me.”
20 The watchman (m)reported, “He came even to them, and he did not return; and (AA)the driving is like the driving of (AB)Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”
20 And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.
20 Again the watchman reported, “He reached them but hasn’t started back. Also, the driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi(R)—he drives like a madman.”
20 The watchman reported to Joram, "He arrived there, but he hasn't returned. Also, he drives like Nimshi's son Jehu drives irrationally!"
20 And the watchman reported, “He approached them, but he has not returned; and the driving [of the chariot] is like that of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously.”
21 Then (n)Joram said, “(o)Get ready.” And they made his chariot ready. (p)(AC)Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu and found him in the (q)(AD)property of Naboth the Jezreelite.
21 And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.
21 “Harness!” Joram shouted, and they harnessed his chariot. Then Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah set out, each in his own chariot, and met Jehu at the plot of land of Naboth the Jezreelite.(S)
21 Joram replied, "Let's begin our attack!" As soon as his chariot was prepared, both King Joram of Israel and King Ahaziah of Judah went out, each in his own chariot, to fight against Jehu. They met together in the property that had belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 When (r)Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Is it peace, Jehu?” And he (s)answered, “What peace, (AE)so long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?”
22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?
22 When Joram saw Jehu he asked, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?”He answered, “What peace can there be as long as there is so much prostitution and witchcraft from your mother Jezebel?”(T)
22 As soon as Joram noticed Jehu, he cried out, "Peace, Jehu?" Jehu replied, "What peace, given your mother Jezebel's prostitution and all of her witchcraft?"
22 When Joram saw Jehu, he said, “Do you come in peace, Jehu?” And he answered, “What peace [can exist] as long as the fornications of your mother Jezebel and her sorceries are so many?”
24 And (AG)Jehu (v)drew his bow with his full strength and (w)shot (x)Joram between his arms; and the arrow went (y)through his heart and he sank in his chariot.
24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.
24 Then Jehu drew his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders. The arrow went through his heart, and he slumped down in his chariot.(V)
24 But Jehu drew his bow with all of his strength, shooting Joram between his shoulder blades. The arrow pierced his heart, and he collapsed in his chariot.
24 But Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and shot Joram between his shoulders; and the arrow went out through his heart and he sank down in his chariot.
25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Take him up and (AH)cast him into the (z)property of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, for I remember when (aa)you and I were riding together after Ahab his father, that the (AI)Lord laid this (AJ)oracle against him:
25 Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the LORD laid this burden upon him;
25 Jehu said to Bidkar his aide, “Pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite.(W) For remember when you and I were riding side by side behind his father Ahab, and the Lord uttered this oracle against him:
25 After this, Jehu called out to Bidkar, his third in command, "Pick up Joram's body and throw it in the field, the property that belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite, because you and I remember how when we were riding together in pursuit of his father Ahab, that the LORD pronounced this oracle against him:
25 Then Jehu said to Bidkar his officer, “Pick him up and throw him on the property of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite; for I remember when you and I were riding together after his father Ahab, that the Lord uttered this prophecy against him:
26 ‘Surely (AK)I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,’ says the Lord, ‘and (AL)I will repay you in this (ab)property,’ says the Lord. Now then, take and cast him into the (ac)property, according to the word of the Lord.”
26 Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the LORD; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the LORD. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of the LORD.
26 ‘As surely as I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons yesterday’—this is the Lord’s declaration—‘so will I repay you on this plot of land’—this is the Lord’s declaration. So now, according to the word of the Lord, pick him up and throw him on the plot of land.”(X)
26 "This is what the LORD says, "I have certainly observed the blood of Naboth and his sons, and I will repay you on this property," declares the LORD.' "Therefore take the body and throw it in the field, just as the LORD said."

Jezebel Loses Her High Position
30 When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and (AQ)she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out the window.
30 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.
30 When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it, so she painted her eyes,(AD) adorned her head, and looked down from the window.
30 As soon as Jehu arrived at Jezreel, Jezebel adorned her eyes, arranged her hair, and peered out a window.
30 So when Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard about it, and she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked down from the [upper] window.
32 Then he lifted up his face to the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” And two or three officials looked down at him.
32 And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.
32 He looked up toward the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs(AF) looked down at him,
32 Jehu looked up toward the window and called out, "Who is on my side? Who?" When two or three eunuchs looked out at him,
32 Then Jehu raised his face toward the window and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” And two or three officials looked down at him.
33 He said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her under foot.
33 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
33 and he said, “Throw her down!” So they threw her down, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses, and Jehu rode over her.(AG)
33 he ordered, "Throw her down!"
33 And he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her underfoot.
34 When he came in, he ate and drank; and he said, “See now to (AS)this cursed woman and bury her, for (AT)she is a king’s daughter.”
34 And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter.
34 Then he went in, ate and drank, and said, “Take care of this cursed(AH) woman and bury her, since she’s a king’s daughter.”(AI)
34 So they did, and her blood splashed against the wall and on the horses, while Jehu trampled her underfoot. Later on, after he had come in to eat and drink, he ordered, "Go and see to this cursed woman, and bury her, because she was a king's daughter."
34 When he came in, he ate and drank, and said, “See now to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”
35 They went to bury her, but they found nothing more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands.
35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.
35 But when they went out to bury her, they did not find anything but her skull, her feet, and the palms of her hands.
35 But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing left of her except her skull, her feet, and the palms of her hands.
35 They went to bury her, but they found nothing left of her except the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands.
36 Therefore they returned and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘(AU)In the (ag)property of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel;
36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:
36 So they went back and told him, and he said, “This fulfills the Lord’s word that He spoke through His servant Elijah the Tishbite: ‘In the plot of land at Jezreel, the dogs will eat Jezebel’s flesh.(AJ)
36 So they returned and reported to Jehu, and he responded, "This fulfills this message from the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the foreigner, who said:
37 and (AV)the corpse of Jezebel will be as dung on the face of the field in the (ah)property of Jezreel, so they cannot say, “This is Jezebel.”’”
37 And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
37 Jezebel’s corpse will be like manure(AK) on the surface of the field in the plot of land at Jezreel so that no one will be able to say: This is Jezebel.’”
37 "Dogs will eat Jezebel's flesh on the property of Jezreel, and her corpse will lie like dung on the surface of the field on the property in Jezreel, but no one will say, "This is Jezebel."'"
37 The corpse of Jezebel will be like dung on the surface of the field in the property of Jezreel, so they cannot say, “This is Jezebel.”’”
