The king, therefore, said unto Joab, captain of the force, who was with him - Go to and fro, I pray thee, throughout all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even unto Beer -sheba, and number ye the people, - so shall I know the sum of the people.

by turning over the kingdom from the house of Saul, - and establishing the throne of David, over Israel and over Judah, from Dan, even unto Beer-sheba.

Then went forth all the sons of Israel, and the assembly came together as one man, from Dan even to Beersheba with the land of Gilead, - unto Yahweh at Mizpah.

And, Joab, was restored unto all the army of Israel, - And, Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites,

and thy herd and thy flock, increase, and silver and gold, increase unto thee, - and all that thou hast, increase;

And, Joab son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out from Hebron and met, by the pool of Gibeon, together, - and they sat down, these, by the pool, on the one side, and, those, by the pool, on the other side.

and, Joab, son of Zeruiah, was over the army, - and, Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was remembrancer.

Therefore I counsel - that there be a general gathering together unto thee of all Israel, from Dan even unto Beer-sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude, - and that, thine own presence, be going on in their midst.

Zelek, the Ammonite, - Naharai, the Beerothite, armour bearers to Joab son of Zeruiah;

And David said unto Joab and unto the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel, from Beer-sheba even unto Dan, - and bring the report unto me, that I may know the number of them.

But, not according to the benefit done unto him, did Hezekiah make return, for uplifted was his heart, - and so there came upon him, wrath, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

Yet verily, with regard to the ambassadors of the rulers of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire concerning the wonderful token which came to pass in the land, God left him, - to prove him, to take note of all that was in his heart.

The loftiness of a man, layeth him low, - but, one of a lowly spirit, shall attain unto honour.

Thus, saith Yahweh Accursed is the man - Who trusteth in a son of earth, And hath made flesh his arm, - And whose heart from Yahweh, turneth aside:

Wherefore, lest I should be unduly lifted up, there was given to me a thorn o in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, that he might buffet me, - lest I should be unduly lifted up.
