Now at Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a colonel in what was known as the Italian regiment,

A just

and I have the same hope in God that they cherish for themselves, that there is to be a resurrection of the upright and the wicked.

But her husband, Joseph, because he was an upright man and did not want to disgrace her, decided to break the engagement by secretly divorcing her.

for Herod stood in awe of John, because he knew that he was an upright and holy man, and so he protected him. When he heard him speak, he was very much disturbed, and yet he liked to hear him.

Now there was in Jerusalem a man named Symeon, an upright, devout man; he was expecting to see the consolation of Israel, and he was under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

For in the good news God's Way of man's right standing with Him is uncovered, the Way of faith that leads to greater faith, just as the Scripture says, "The upright man must live by faith."

So, brothers, you must select from your number seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit, and of good practical sense, and we will assign them to this business,

There a man named Ananias, a man devout in strict accordance with the law, of good reputation among all the Jews who lived there,

So they went to Jesus and continued to urge Him earnestly, saying, "He deserves that you do this for him,

He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, or else he may incur reproach and fall into the devil's trap.

For by it the men of old won God's approval.

Demetrius has a good testimony from everybody and from truth itself; yea, from me too, and you know that my testimony to him is true.

And to

He is a guest of a tanner named Simon, whose house is close by the sea."

he will tell you truths through which you and your whole household will be saved.'

"I most solemnly say to you, whoever listens to me and believes Him who has sent me possesses eternal life, and will never come under condemnation, but has already passed out of death into life.

The Spirit is what gives life; the flesh does not help at all. The truths that I have told you are spirit and life.

I most solemnly say to you, whoever welcomes any messenger I send welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who has sent me."

for I have given them the teachings that you gave me, and they have accepted them, and they have come to know in reality that I did come from you, and so they are convinced that you did send me.

So faith comes from hearing what is told, and hearing through the message about Christ.

This has all originated with God, for He through Christ has reconciled me to Himself and has given me the ministry of reconciliation.

to remember the things foretold by the holy prophets, and the command of the Lord and Saviour through your apostles.
