Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome,

Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, rose up and disputed with Stephen.

Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to carry his cross.

Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution.

And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. But they were seeking to kill him.

Preaching

Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.

And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, "He is the Son of God."

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, "What does this babbler wish to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities"--because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection.

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
