Then Paul got up and motioned with his hand and said: "Fellow Israelites, and you who reverence God, listen!

Some of the crowd concluded that it was Alexander, since the Jews had pushed him to the front, and since Alexander had made a gesture of the hand as though he would make a defense before the people.

He granted the request, and Paul, as he was standing on the steps, made a gesture to the people, and after everybody had quieted down, he spoke to them in Hebrew as follows:

But when he came out, he could not speak to them, and so they knew that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. Meanwhile he kept on making signs to them, and remained dumb.

So Simon Peter nodded to him to ask Him which one it was that He meant.

After getting out of jail, they went to Lydia's house; they saw the brothers and encouraged them, and then left town.

But whenever they persecute you in one town, flee to a different one. For I solemnly say to you, you will not cover all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man returns.

After this, Jesus went on moving about in Galilee; He would not do so in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill Him.

At this the Jews took up stones to stone Him, but Jesus made His way out of the temple unperceived.

He again crossed the Jordan at the place where John at first used to baptize, and there He stayed.

It was for this reason that Jesus no more appeared in public among the Jews, but He left that part of the country and went to the district near the desert, to a town called Ephraim, and stayed there with His disciples.
