Then Paul stood up and motioned with his hand and said: “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen!

Then some of the crowd gave Alexander advice when the Jews pushed him to the front. So motioning with his hand, Alexander wanted to make his defense to the people.

After he had given permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned with his hand to the people. When there was a great hush, he addressed them in the Hebrew language:

After this, Jesus traveled in Galilee, since He did not want to travel in Judea because the Jews were trying to kill Him.

and went out of the temple complex.

So He departed again across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing earlier, and He remained there.

Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews but departed from there to the countryside near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim. And He stayed there with the disciples.
