In the

Now the news about them came to the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and so they sent Barnabas all the way to Antioch.

and from there they sailed back to Antioch, where they had first been committed to God's favor for the work which they had finished.

Now Joseph, a Levite, a native of Cyprus, who by the apostles was named Barnabas, which means Son of Encouragement,

Herod

At that time Herod the governor heard the reports about Jesus,

In the fifteenth year of the reign of the Emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was governor of Galilee, and his brother Philip was governor of the territory of Iturea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was governor of Abilene,

Just at that time some Pharisees came up and said to Him, "Get out at once! Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you!"

So when he learned with certainty that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, He sent Him up to Herod, for he was in Jerusalem at that time.

All God's people wish to be remembered to you, but more especially the members of the Emperor's household.

And saul

Then Saul, who was also called Paul, because he was full of the Holy Spirit, looked him straight in the eye

Saul heartily approved of his being put to death. So on that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all of them, except the apostles, were scattered over Judea and Samaria.

Now Saul, as he was still breathing threats of murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
