Acts 17:19

They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus. They said, May we know what is this new teaching?

The people were all amazed and questioned. What is this? What new doctrine is this? He has authority over the unclean spirits, and they obey him.

Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus, and said: Men of Athens, in all things, I perceive that you are very religious.

You will be taken before governors and kings for my sake. This will serve as a testimony to them and to the people of the nations.

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another.

You bring strange ideas to our ears. We want to know what these things mean.

A few days later Felix arrived with Drusilla his wife, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him concerning faith in Christ.

Then Agrippa said to Festus: I would also hear the man myself. Festus replied: Tomorrow, you will hear him.

Agrippa said to Paul, You are permitted to speak for yourself. Then Paul stretched out his arm and began his defense,

Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word that you heard.
