³⁹ For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call. ⁴⁰ And with many other words he earnestly testified and exhorted, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. ⁴¹ Then those who gladly received his word were baptized. And the same day there were added about three thousand souls.
