Are you the Egyptian who started a revolt and led four thousand assassins into the desert?

If they say, 'Look, he is in the wilderness,' or, 'He is in the inner chambers,' do not believe it.

Blessed are you when men revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

Sometime ago Theudas claimed to be somebody. About four hundred men joined and obeyed him. He was killed and they finally dispersed.

being slandered, we answer kindly. We are made as the filth of the world and are the refuse of all things to this day.
