But do not be persuaded by them, for more than forty of their men are lying in ambush for him, who have bound themselves by an oath neither to eat nor drink till they have killed him. And now they are ready, waiting for your consent.

asking as a favor against Paul that he summon him to Jerusalem--because they were planning an ambush to kill him on the way.

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.

Under a curse

No one devoted, who is to be devoted for destruction from mankind, shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.
