but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!" So they took his advice,

"You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak."

no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD."

And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.

And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the LORD.

But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD.'He who will hear, let him hear; and he who will refuse to hear, let him refuse, for they are a rebellious house.

When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.

And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say,

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

The officers answered, "No one ever spoke like this man!"
