Amos 8:4

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,

Now hear the word of Jehovah: You say, do not prophesy against Israel, and do not speak against the house of Isaac.

Micaiah continued: Now listen to what Jehovah says! I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne in heaven, with all his angels standing beside him.

Listen to the word of Jehovah (YHWH), you rulers of Sodom! Pay attention to the Law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, you scornful men, who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,

Hear this, you stupid and senseless people! You have eyes, but you cannot see. You have ears, but you cannot hear.'

Then Jeremiah the prophet told the prophet Hananiah: Listen, Hananiah! Jehovah did not send you. You are making these people believe a lie.

Do not steal.

In the business of trading goods for money, do no wrong to one another.

Do not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of your aliens who is in your land in your towns.

They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

You have despised my holy things and dishonored (profaned the Sabbath) the day to worship me.

You must have honest scales and honest dry and liquid measures.

We may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes, and sell the refuse of the wheat?
