Why harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened theirs? When He afflicted them, didn’t they send Israel away, and Israel left?

But they would not listen. Instead they became obstinate like their ancestors who did not believe the Lord their God.

He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear allegiance by God. He became obstinate

and hardened his heart against returning to Yahweh, the God of Israel.

“This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to bring on this city—and on all its dependent villages—all the disaster that I spoke against it, for they have become obstinate, not obeying My words.’”

But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.

In pride

“Go down and sit in the dust,
Virgin Daughter Babylon.
Sit on the ground without a throne,
Daughter Chaldea!
For you will no longer be called pampered and spoiled.

Say to the king and the queen mother:
Take a humble seat,
for your glorious crowns
have fallen from your heads.

Come down from glory; sit on parched ground,
resident of the daughter of Dibon,
for the destroyer of Moab has come against you;
he has destroyed your fortresses.

This is what the Lord says:
Those who support Egypt will fall,
and its proud strength will collapse.
From Migdol to Syene
they will fall within it by the sword.
This is the declaration of the Lord God.
