Your fathers traveled to Egypt, seventy persons in all. Now Jehovah your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the universe (physical heavens).

You were at one time as numerous as the stars in the sky. But only a few of you will be left. This is because you did not obey Jehovah your God.

He brought him outside and said: Look toward heaven and count the stars. Are you able to count them? He continued: So shall your descendants be.
