"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORDGOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation."

But Israel is saved by the LORD with everlasting salvation; you shall not be put to shame or confounded to all eternity.

For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

The shield

After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great."

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

O Israel,trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield.

The sword

Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars. They held in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow. And they cried out, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!"

If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow;

Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and majesty!

In that day the LORD with his hard and great and strong sword will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan the twisting serpent, and he will slay the dragon that is in the sea.

For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it descends for judgment upon Edom, upon the people I have devoted to destruction.
