"It wasn't because you were more numerous than other people of the earth that the LORD committed himself to you and chose you. In fact, you were the least numerous of all the nations.

because you are a holy people to the LORD your God. The LORD your God chose you to be his people, his treasured possession from all the nations on the face of the earth."

He guards the steps of his faithful ones, while the wicked are made silent in darkness. He grants the request of the one who prays. He blesses the year of the righteous. Indeed it's not by strength that a person prevails.

My times are in your hands. Deliver me from the hands of my enemies and from those who pursue me.

"Assemble before me, my saints, who have entered into my covenant by sacrifice."

I'll make an everlasting covenant with them that I won't turn away from doing good for them. I'll put the fear of me in their hearts so they won't turn away from me.

I give them eternal life, they'll never be lost, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by your Name, the Name that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one.

Who will separate us from the Messiah's love? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or a violent death do this?

For you have died, and your life has been safely guarded by the Messiah in God.

Through faith you are being protected by God's power for a salvation that is ready to be revealed at the end of this era.

Three days later, they found him in the Temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and posing questions to them.

So the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind, they were frightened.
