Who knows the breath of man that goes upward, and the breath of the animal that goes downward to the earth?

Even though he lives a thousand years twice over, yet he has seen no good. Do not all go to one place?

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you are going.

Then he took his last breath and died at a very old age. After a long and full life, he joined his ancestors in death.

After you see it, you, too, will join your ancestors in death, as your brother Aaron did.

Just as a cloud dissipates and vanishes; those who die will not come back.

Should I look for the grave as my home and make my bed in the darkness?

Does not one in a heap of ruins stretch out his hand, Or in his disaster cry out for help?

Like sheep, they are laid in the grave. Death will shepherd them. The upright will rule them in the morning. Their forms will decay in the grave, far away from their comfortable homes.

You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again?

All flesh would perish and man would return to dust.

You hide your face, and they are frightened. You take away their breath, and they die and return to dust.

Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
