A man

For every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has empowered him to eat because of them. He should receive his reward and rejoice in his labor. This is the gift of God.

I will also give you what you did not ask for. All your life you will have wealth and honor, more than that of any other king.

Jehovah made the whole nation stand in awe of Solomon. He made him more glorious than any other king that had ruled Israel.

God replied to Solomon: You have made the right choice. Instead of asking for wealth, treasure, fame or the death of your enemies or even for long life for yourself, you have asked for wisdom and knowledge so that you can rule my people, over whom I have made you king.

O you king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty.

So

I made great works. I built houses for myself. I planted vineyards for myself.

Jehovah your God will lead you into a good land. It is a land with rivers that do not dry up. Springs and underground streams flow through the valleys and the hills.

When you go you will find a secure people who do not suspect a thing. It is a big country. God has given it to you and it has all you could want.

Their houses are safe and without fear, and no rod of God is upon them.

With your power (by your hand) rescue me from mortals, O Jehovah, from mortals who look forward only to this life. You fill their bellies with your treasure. Their children are satisfied with it, and they leave what remains to their children.

Their eyes stand out with fatness, and their heart's imagination run wild.

I will say to my self: 'You have many possessions saved for many years. Take it easy and eat, drink and be merry.'

But

A foreign nation will take all the crops that you have worked so hard to grow. You will receive nothing but constant oppression and harsh treatment.

Every man walks about like a vain illusion. He makes a lot of noise over nothing. He hoards riches and does not know who will receive them.

Our heritage is turned over to men of strange lands, our houses to those who are not our countrymen.

Foreigners are using up your strength, but you do not realize it. You have become a gray-haired, old man, but you do not realize it.

Vanity

I have learned why people work so hard to succeed. It is because they envy the things their neighbors have. But it is vanity! It is like chasing the wind.

This also is a serious evil. Just as we came we will go. Whatever profit or gain we earned we loose as if we labored for the wind.

Every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor. It is the gift of God.
