And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed to the day of redemption.

Quench not the spirit.

But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

And not only they, but ourselves also, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

And the LORD repented that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David? Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast provoked me in all these things; behold therefore, I also will recompense thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thy abominations.

And when he had looked around on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who from God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thy iniquities.

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues, O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from my eyes.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads: for your redemption draweth nigh.

Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.

But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised Christ from the dead will also revive your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
