Memorial

And this day shall be unto you a remembrance, and ye shall keep it holy unto the LORD: even throughout your generations after you shall ye keep it holy day, that it be a custom forever.
Therefore it shall be a sign unto thee upon thine hand and a remembrance between thine eyes, that the LORD's law may be in thy mouth. For with a strong hand the LORD brought thee out of Egypt;
And the LORD said unto Moses, "Write these words, for upon these words I have made a covenant with thee and with the children of Israel."
And Moses wrote this law and delivered it unto the priests, the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel,
Then say unto them, 'How that the water of Jordan divided at the presence of the ark of the covenant of the LORD: even while it went over Jordan, the water of Jordan divided.' And these stones shall be a memorial unto the children of Israel forever."
O that my words were written, O that they were put in a book:
"Speak to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel prince of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jozadak the high priest, and to the residue of the people, and say,

For i will

And he looked on Amalek and began his parable, and said, "Amalek is the first of the nations, but his latter end shall perish utterly."
Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way after thou camest out of Egypt:
Thus sayeth the LORD of Hosts: 'I have called to remembrance that which Amalek did to Israel; how they lay in wait for them in the way, as they came out of Egypt.
And David and his men went and ran upon the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites: which nations were from the beginning the inhabiters of the land, as men go to Shur, and so forth to Egypt.
But yer David and his men were come to Ziklag the third day, the Amalekites had run in a running upon the south and upon Ziklag, and had smitten Ziklag and burnt it with fire,
After the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites and had been two days in Ziklag:
of the Syrians, the Moabites, the children of Ammon, the Philistines, the Amalekites, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
and smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped and they dwelt there unto this day.
As for us, we have turned back, and have let go thy commandments, to make contract with the people of these abominations. Wilt thou then be wroth at us, till we be utterly consumed, so that nothing remain, and there be no deliverance?

The remembrance

His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and his name shall not be praised in the streets:
O thou enemy, thy destructions are come to a perpetual end; even as the cities which thou hast destroyed, their memorial is perished with them.
The memorial of the just shall have a good report; but the name of the ungodly shall stink.
