But Abram said to the king of Sodom: I have sworn to Jehovah, God Most High, maker of heaven and earth:

Indeed, I lift up my hand to heaven, and say: As I live forever,

Tell them what the Lord Jehovah said: 'When I chose Israel, I made them a promise. I revealed myself to them in Egypt and told them: 'I am Jehovah your God.'

This is what the Lord Jehovah says: 'I raise my hand and swear that the nations that surround you will be insulted.

Divide the land equally. I raised my hand and swore that I would give the land to your ancestors. So this land will be your inheritance.

To give

Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. You took an oath, swearing on yourself. You told them: 'I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky. I will give to your descendants all the land I spoke of. It will be their long lasting possession.'

On that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram. He said: To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,

He said: I am taking an oath on my own name, declares Jehovah, that because you have done this and have not refused to give me your son, your only son,

You will live there as a foreigner. I will be with you and bless you. I will keep my promise to your father Abraham by giving this land to you and your descendants.

Jehovah was standing above the stairway. He proclaimed: I am Jehovah, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give the land on which you are lying to you and your descendants.

The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you. I will give the land to your descendants after you.

I am

God spoke further to Moses and said to him: I am Jehovah.

God is a not man that he should lie. He is not a son of man who changes his mind. Does he ever promise and not fulfill? Does he ever speak and not act?

The Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind. He is not a mortal who changes his mind.
