Yahweh's Plans For Bringing Israel Out Of Egypt

1 The LORD said unto Moses, See, I have constituted thee as god unto Pharaoh; and Aaron, thy brother, shall be thy prophet.

1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “(A)See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.

1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

1 The Lord answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother will be your prophet.

1 The LORD told Moses, "Listen! I've positioned you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

2 Thou shalt speak all that I shall command thee; and Aaron, thy brother, shall speak unto Pharaoh that he send the sons of Israel out of his land.

2 You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother (B)Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land.

2 Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

2 You must say whatever I command you; then Aaron your brother must declare it to Pharaoh so that he will let the Israelites go from his land.

2 You are to speak everything that I've commanded you, and then your brother Aaron will speak to Pharaoh, telling him to let the Israelis go out of his land.

3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

3 But (C)I will harden Pharaoh’s heart that I may (D)multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.

3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart(A) and multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

3 I'll harden Pharaoh's heart and I'll add more and more of my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

4 And Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, but I shall lay my hand upon Egypt and bring forth my hosts, and my people, the sons of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

4 When (E)Pharaoh does not listen to you, then I will lay My hand on Egypt and (F)bring out My hosts, My people the sons of Israel, from the land of Egypt by (G)great judgments.

4 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

4 Pharaoh will not listen to you, but I will put My hand on Egypt and bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment.

4 WhenPharaoh won't listen to you, I'll let loose my power upon Egypt. I'll bring out my tribal divisions my people the Israelis from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.

5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from among them.

5 (H)The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I (I)stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from their midst.”

5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

5 The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh(B) when I stretch out My hand(C) against Egypt, and bring out the Israelites from among them.”

5 The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand over Egypt to bring the Israelis out from among them."

6 And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.

6 So Moses and Aaron did it; (J)as the Lord commanded them, thus they did.

6 And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.

6 So Moses and Aaron did this; they did just as the Lord commanded them.

6 Moses and Aaron did what the LORD commanded them.

7 And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke unto Pharaoh.

7 Moses was (K)eighty years old and Aaron (a)eighty-three, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

7 And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

7 Moses was 80 years old(D) and Aaron 83 when they spoke to Pharaoh.

7 Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Aaron's Staff Becomes A Snake

8 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

8 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

8 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

8 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

8 Then the LORD told Moses and Aaron,

9 If Pharaoh shall answer you, saying, Show a miracle, then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod and cast it before Pharaoh, that it shall become a dragon.

9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘(b)(L)Work a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘(M)Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’”

9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

9 “When Pharaoh tells you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh. It will become a serpent.’”(E)

9 "When Pharaoh says to you, "Perform a miraculous sign,' then you are to say to Aaron, "Take your staff and throw it in front of Pharaoh.' It will become a serpent."

10 So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did as the LORD had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his slaves, and it became a dragon.

10 So Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and thus they did just as the Lord had commanded; and Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and (c)his servants, and it (N)became a serpent.

10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord had commanded. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.

10 So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did what the LORD had commanded them. Aaron threw his staff in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.

11 Then Pharaoh also called wise men and sorcerers; now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their fire worship.

11 Then Pharaoh also (O)called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the (d)(P)magicians of Egypt, did (e)the same with (Q)their secret arts.

11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

11 But then Pharaoh called the wise men and sorcerers—the magicians(F) of Egypt, and they also did the same thing by their occult practices.(G)

11 Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and sorcerers, and they along with the Egyptian magicians did the same thing with their secret arts.

12 For each one cast down his rod, and they became dragons; but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

12 For each one threw down his staff and they turned into serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

12 Each one threw down his staff, and it became a serpent. But Aaron’s staff swallowed their staffs.

12 So each one threw down his staff and it became a serpent, but Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs.

13 And Pharaoh's heart became hard, that he hearkened not unto them as the LORD had said.

13 Yet (R)Pharaoh’s heart was (f)hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

13 However, Pharaoh’s heart hardened,(H) and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

13 Yet Pharaoh's heart was stubborn and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had said would happen.

Plague One: Blood

14 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is become grievous, for he refuses to let the people go.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is (g)stubborn; he refuses to let the people go.

14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is hard: he refuses to let the people go.

14 Then the LORD told Moses, "Pharaoh's heart is hard. He has refused to let the people go.

15 Go unto Pharaoh in the morning; behold, he goes out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink before him and take in thy hand the rod which was turned to a serpent

15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning (h)as (S)he is going out to the water, and station yourself to meet him on the bank of the Nile; and you shall take in your hand (T)the staff that was turned into a serpent.

15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning. When you see him walking out to the water, stand ready to meet him by the bank of the Nile. Take in your hand the staff that turned into a snake.(I)

15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he's going down to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile River and meet him. Be sure to take with you the staff that was turned into a snake.

16 and say unto him, The LORD, the God of the Hebrews has sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness; and, behold, until now thou hast not desired to hear.

16 (U)You shall say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, “(V)Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness. But behold, you have not listened until now.”

16 And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

16 Tell him: Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship(a) Me in the wilderness, but so far you have not listened.

16 Then say to him, "The LORD God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you. He says, "Let my people go so they may serve me in the desert, but until now you haven't obeyed."'

17 Thus hath the LORD said, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD; behold, I will smite with the rod that is in my hand the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

17 Thus says the Lord, “(W)By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, I will strike (i)the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and (X)it will be turned to blood.

17 Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

17 This is what Yahweh says: Here is how you will know that I am Yahweh. Watch. I will strike the water in the Nile with the staff in my hand, and it will turn to blood.

17 ""This is what the LORD says: "This is how you'll know that I am the LORD: Right now I'm going to strike the water of the Nile River with the staff that's in my hand, and it will be turned to blood.

18 And the fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink the water of the river.

18 (Y)The fish that are in the Nile will die, and the Nile will (j)become foul, and the Egyptians will (k)(Z)find difficulty in drinking water from the Nile.”’”

18 And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

18 The fish in the Nile will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink water from it.”

18 The fish in the Nile River will die and the river will stink. The Egyptians will be unable to drink water from the Nile River."'"

19 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their rivers, upon their streams, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.

19 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and (AA)stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their (l)streams, and over their pools, and over all their reservoirs of water, that they may become blood; and there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

19 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

19 So the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron: Take your staff and stretch out your hand(J) over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers, canals,(b) ponds, and all their water reservoirs—and they will become blood. There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in wooden and stone containers.”

19 The LORD also told Moses, "Tell Aaron, "Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their Nile River, over their ponds, and over their reservoirs, and they'll become blood. There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in their wood and stone containers.'"

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and lifting up the rod, he smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his slaves; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

20 So Moses and Aaron did even as the Lord had commanded. And he lifted up (m)(AB)the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, and (AC)all the water that was in the Nile was turned to blood.

20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded; in the sight of Pharaoh and his officials, he raised the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the water in the Nile was turned to blood.(K)

20 Moses and Aaron did just what the LORD had commanded. Aaron raised his staff and struck the water in the Nile River in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and all the water in the Nile River turned to blood.

21 And the fish that were in the river died; and the river became corrupted, so that the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

21 The fish that were in the Nile died, and the Nile (n)became foul, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. And the blood was through all the land of Egypt.

21 And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad the Egyptians could not drink water from it. There was blood throughout the land of Egypt.

21 The fish in the Nile River died and the river stank. The Egyptians were not able to drink water from the Nile River, and blood was throughout the land of Egypt.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did the same with their enchantments; and Pharaoh's heart hardened itself, and he did not hearken unto them, as the LORD had said.

22 (AD)But the (o)magicians of Egypt did (p)the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh’s heart was (q)hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

22 And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same thing by their occult practices. So Pharaoh’s heart hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same thing with their secret arts. Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.

23 And Pharaoh turned and returned to his house, and even with all this he did not take this to heart.

23 Then Pharaoh turned and went into his house (r)with no concern even for this.

23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

23 Pharaoh turned around, went into his palace, and didn’t even take this to heart.

23 Then Pharaoh turned away, went to his palace, and paid no attention to any of this.

24 And in all Egypt they dug wells round about the river for water to drink, for they could not drink of the water of the river.

24 So all the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, for they could not drink of the water of the Nile.

24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

24 All the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink because they could not drink the water from the river.

24 All the Egyptians dug around the Nile River for water to drink because they could not drink from the water in the Nile River.

The Frogs

25 And seven days were fulfilled after the LORD had smitten the river.

25 Seven days (s)passed after the Lord had struck the Nile.

25 And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.

25 Seven days passed after the Lord struck the Nile.

25 Seven days after the LORD had struck the Nile River,
