"Thou son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a froward household: which have eyes to see, and yet see not; ears have they to hear, and yet hear they not. For they are an obstinate household.

O how oft did they grieve him in the wilderness? How many a time did they provoke him in the desert?

Thy princes are traitors and companions of thieves. They love gifts altogether, and gape for rewards. As for the fatherless, they help him not to his right, neither will they let the widows causes come before them.

And so he said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Ye shall hear indeed, but ye shall not understand; ye shall plainly see, and not perceive.

"Hear this, thou foolish and indiscreet people: ye have eyes, but ye see not; ears have ye, but ye hear not.

And he said, "Behold, thou son of man: I will send thee to the children of Israel, to those renegades and obstinate people - for they have taken part against me, and are run away from me: both they and their forefathers unto this day.

that whether they be obedient or no - for it is a froward household - they may know yet that there hath been a Prophet among them.

Therefore speak I to them in similitudes: For though they see, they see not; and hearing, they hear not, neither understand.

that when they see, they shall see, and not discern: and when they hear they shall hear, and not understand: lest at any time they should turn, and their sins should be forgiven them."

And he said, "Unto you is it given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God: but to others in similitudes, that when they see, they should not see, and when they hear they should not understand.

Jesus said, "I am come unto judgment, into this world: that they which see not, might see, and they which see might be made blind."

"He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their hearts: that they should not see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and should be converted and I should heal them."

Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedest the LORD thy God in the wilderness: for since the day that thou camest out of the land of Egypt until ye came unto this place, ye have rebelled against the LORD.

Thus ye have been disobedient unto the LORD, since the day that I knew you.

And yet the LORD hath not given you a heart to perceive, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear unto this day.

For I know thy stubbornness and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been disobedient unto the LORD: and how much more after my death.

Ponder these things once in your mind, and wonder: Blinded are they themselves, and the blind guides of others; they are drunken, but not with wine; they are unstable, but not through strong drink.

Alas, for those disobedient children," sayeth the LORD, "that will take counsel without me. Alas, that they will take a secret advice, and not out of my spirit: and therefore add they sin unto sin.

For it is an obstinate people, unfaithful children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD.

But who is blinder, than my servant? Or so deaf, as my messengers, whom I send unto thee? For who is so blind as the perfect man, and so blind as the LORD's servant?

For thus long have I ever holden out my hands to an unfaithful people, that go not the right way, but after their own imaginations:

They shall give them warning in every place, like as the watchmen in the field. For they have provoked me to wrath, sayeth the LORD.

But this people hath a false and an obstinate heart, they are departed and gone away from me.

O Who will give my head water enough, and a well of tears for mine eyes, that I may weep night and day for the slaughter of my people?

so that thy forehead shall be harder than an Adamant or flint stone: that thou mayest fear them the less, and be less afraid of them, for they are a froward household."

And I will make thy tongue cleave so to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and not be as a chider with them: for it is an obstinate household.

"Speak to that froward household, 'Know ye not, what these things do signify?' Tell them, 'Behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took the king and his princes, and led them to Babylon.

Show that obstinate household a parable, and speak unto them, 'Thus sayeth the LORD God: Get thee a pot, set it on, and pour water into it:

And tell that obstinate household of Israel, 'Thus sayeth the LORD God: O house of Israel: yea have now done enough with all your abominations,

We have sinned, we have offended, we have been disobedient and gone back: yea, we have departed from all thy precepts and judgments.

And when Jesus knew that, he said unto them, "Why take ye thought because ye have no bread? Perceive ye not yet, neither understand? Have ye your hearts yet blinded?

"Ye stiffnecked and of uncircumcised hearts and ears: ye have always resisted the holy ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

saying, 'Go unto this people and say: with your ears shall ye hear, and shall not understand: and with your eyes shall ye see and shall not perceive.

What then? Israel hath not obtained that that he sought. No but yet the election hath obtained it. The remnant are blinded,

But their minds were blinded. For until this day remaineth the same covering, untaken away, in the old testament when they read it - which in Christ is put away:

If our Gospel be yet hid, it is hid among them that are lost,

blinded in their understanding, being strangers from the life which is in God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts.

and in all deceivableness of unrighteousness, among them that perish: because they received not the love of the truth, that they might have been saved.
