This is a funeral song. The people from the nations will sing this song. They will sing it as they mourn for Egypt and its many people, declares the Lord Jehovah.

Take up a song of grief concerning the princes of Israel.

You, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre.

Son of man, sing a funeral song for the ruler of Tyre. Tell him: 'This is what the Lord Jehovah says: 'You were the perfect example, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

Let them hurry and take up a wailing for us. Let our eyes shed tears and our eyelids flow with water.

Thou art like

Say: 'What a lioness was your mother among the lions! She lay down among the young lions and reared her cubs.

Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages will say to you: Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?'

Judah is like a lion, killing his victim and returning to his den. He is like a lion stretching out and lying down. No one dares disturb him.

He bows down and he lies down like a lion. Like a lion, who dares rouse him? Blessed is everyone who blesses you! Cursed is everyone who curses you!

Like a roaring lion and a charging bear, so is a wicked ruler over the helpless people.

A lion has come out of its lair. A destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his place and is on his way to destroy your land. Your cities will be ruined. No one will live in them.

Where is the lions den, the feeding-place of young lions? Where have the lion and the lioness walked where none have made them afraid?

And thou art as

Say this, 'The Lord Jehovah says: I am against you Pharaoh, king of Egypt, the great monster (Egypt) (Psalm 74:13,14) that lies in the midst of his rivers. You have said: 'My Nile is mine! I have made it!'

You divided the sea by your strength. You broke the heads of the sea monsters (Egypt's Army) in the waters.

In that day Jehovah will punish with his sword, his fierce, great and powerful sword. He will slay Leviathan the fleeing, coiling serpent, the monster of the sea.

Awake, awake! Clothe yourself with strength, O arm of Jehovah. Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?

And troubledst

Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you trample the rest of the pasture with your feet? You drink clean water. Must you muddy the rest of the water with your feet?
