So she said to Abraham, “Drive out this slave with her son, for the son of this slave will not be a coheir with my son Isaac!”

The Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt. Live in the land that I tell you about;

Israel set out with all that he had and came to Beer-sheba, and he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

Then he blessed Joseph and said:

The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked,
the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,

So God heard their groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Then He continued, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God.

just as He spoke to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his descendants forever.

The ancestors are theirs, and from them, by physical descent, came the Messiah, who is God over all, praised forever.

Amen.

And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.
