Then God said to Abraham, "As for your wife, you must no longer call her Sarai; Sarah will be her name.
"No longer will your name be Jacob," the man told him, "but Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have prevailed."
These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to investigate the land. And Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.
2 Samuel 12:25
and sent word through Nathan the prophet that he should be named Jedidiah for the Lord's sake.
