And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

Then make me a delicious meal that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I can bless you before I die.”

Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for wild game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing
or perform wicked acts
with men who commit sin.
Do not let me feast on their delicacies.

and put a knife to your throat
if you have a big appetite;

“Be on your guard, so that your minds are not dulled from carousing, drunkenness, and worries of life, or that day will come on you unexpectedly

So then it does not depend on human will or effort

but on God who shows mercy.
