“Brothers, I can confidently speak to you about the patriarch David: He is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision. After this, he fathered Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; Isaac did the same with Jacob, and Jacob with the 12 patriarchs.

Abraham

I will make you into a great nation,
I will bless you,
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.

Your name will no longer be Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I will make you the father of many nations.

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith

while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.

There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

So the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness,

and he was called God’s friend.

who has handed over your enemies to you.

And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
