Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
This is a symbol for the present time, during which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the worshiper’s conscience.
Since the law has only a shadow of the good things
to come, and not the actual form of those realities, it can never perfect the worshipers by the same sacrifices they continually offer year after year.
These are a shadow
of what was to come; the substance is the Messiah.
