2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “(G)Go, take to yourself a wife of harlotry and have children of harlotry; for (H)the land commits flagrant harlotry, (a)forsaking the Lord.”

2 The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

2 When the Lord first spoke to Hosea, He said this to him:Go and marry a promiscuous wife(F)and have children of promiscuity, for the land is committing blatant acts of promiscuityby abandoning the Lord.

3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and (I)bore him a son.

3 So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.

3 So he went and married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son.(G)

3 So call your brothers "Ammi,' and your sisters "Ruhamah.'"

4 And LORD said to him, Call his name Jezreel, for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.

4 And the Lord said to him, “Name him (J)Jezreel; for yet a little while, and (K)I will (b)punish the house of Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel, and (L)I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.

4 And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.

4 Then the Lord said to him:Name him Jezreel,(H) for in a little whileI will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel(I)on the house of Jehu(J)and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.

4 So he went out and married Diblaim's daughter Gomer. She conceived with him and gave birth to a son.

5 And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

5 On that day I will (M)break the bow of Israel in the (N)valley of Jezreel.”

6 And she conceived again, and bore a daughter. And [LORD] said to him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah, for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel, that I should in any way pardon them.

6 Then she conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. And (c)the Lord said to him, “Name her (d)Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer (O)have compassion on the house of Israel, that I would ever forgive them.

6 And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Loruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.

6 She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter, and the Lord said to him:Name her No Compassion,(b)for I will no longer have compassionon the house of Israel.I will certainly take them away.

6 At that time I'll shatter the military strength of Israel in the Valley of Jezreel."

9 And (e)the Lord said, “Name him (f)Lo-ammi, for you are not My people and I am not (g)your God.”

9 Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.

9 Then the Lord said:Name him Not My People,(c)for you are not My people, and I will not be your God.(d)(P)
