For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up--and it shall be brought low;

I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pomp of the arrogant, and lay low the pompous pride of the ruthless.

You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;

And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the LORD will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.

Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him.

And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down, lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
