"For my name's sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.

For how

Now therefore what have I here," declares the LORD, "seeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Their rulers wail," declares the LORD, "and continually all the day my name is despised.

Now if you kill this people as one man, then the nations who have heard your fame will say,

I would have said, "I will cut them to pieces; I will wipe them from human memory,"

But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, in whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

For, as it is written, "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

I will not

I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say, 'My idol did them, my carved image and my metal image commanded them.'

I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
