Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

The Spirit of the Lord God is on Me,
because the Lord has anointed Me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners;

I didn’t know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on—He is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

For God sent Him, and He speaks God’s words, since He gives the Spirit without measure.

But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again—ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well

of water springing up within him for eternal life.”

He said this about the Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus were going to receive the Spirit, for the Spirit had not yet been received

because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

I have put My words in your mouth,
and covered you in the shadow of My hand,
in order to plant the heavens,
to found the earth,
and to say to Zion, “You are My people.”

Jesus answered them, “My teaching isn’t Mine but is from the One who sent Me.

I speak what I have seen in the presence of the Father;

therefore, you do what you have heard from your father.”

because the words that You gave Me,

I have given them.
They have received them
and have known for certain
that I came from You.

They have believed that You sent Me.

For I passed on to you as most important what I also received:

that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures,
