Zion Glorified

1 Up! let your face be bright, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is shining on you.

1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

1 "Arise, shine! For your light has come; the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

2 For truly, the earth will be dark, and the peoples veiled in blackest night; but the Lord will be shining on you, and his glory will be seen among you.

2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

2 “For behold, (D)darkness will cover the earthAnd deep darkness the peoples;But the Lord will rise upon youAnd His (E)glory will appear upon you.

2 For look, darkness covers the earth,and total darkness the peoples;but the Lord will shine over you,and His glory will appear over you.

2 For look! Darkness will cover the earth and thick darkness is over the people, but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.

3 And nations will come to your light, and kings to your bright dawn.

3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

4 Let your eyes be lifted up, and see: they are all coming together to you: your sons will come from far, and your daughters taken with loving care.

4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

4 Raise your eyes and look around:they all gather and come to you;your sons will come from far away,and your daughters will be carried on the hip.(D)

5 Then you will see, and be bright with joy, and your heart will be shaking with increase of delight: for the produce of the sea will be turned to you, the wealth of the nations will come to you.

5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

5 “Then you will see and be (J)radiant,And your heart will (b)thrill and rejoice;Because the (K)abundance of the sea will be turned to you,The (L)wealth of the nations will come to you.

5 Then you will see and be radiant,(E)and your heart will tremble and rejoice,(b)because the riches of the sea will become yoursand the wealth of the nations will come to you.(F)

5 Then you will look and be radiant; your heart will swell with joy, because the abundance of the seas will be diverted to you, and the riches of the nations will come to you.

6 You will be full of camel-trains, even the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all from Sheba will come, with gold and spices, giving word of the great acts of the Lord.

6 The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.

6 “A multitude of camels will cover you,The young camels of Midian and (M)Ephah;All those from (N)Sheba will come;They will bring (O)gold and frankincense,And will (P)bear good news of the praises of the Lord.

6 Caravans of camels will cover your land(c)young camels of Midian and Ephah—all of them will come from Sheba.(G)They will carry gold and frankincense(H)and proclaim the praises of the Lord.

6 Throngs of camels will blanket you: the young camels of Midian and Ephu; all those from Shebu will come. They'll carry gold and frankincense, and proclaim the praise of the LORD.

7 All the flocks of Kedar will come together to you, the sheep of Nebaioth will be ready for your need; they will be pleasing offerings on my altar, and my house of prayer will be beautiful.

7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

7 “All the flocks of (Q)Kedar will be gathered together to you,The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you;They will go up with acceptance on My (R)altar,And I shall (c)(S)glorify My (d)glorious house.

7 All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you;the rams of Nebaioth will serve you(I)and go up on My altar as an acceptable sacrifice.(J)I will glorify My beautiful house.(K)

7 All Kedar's flocks will be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth will serve you. and they'll come up with acceptance upon my altar, and I'll glorify my glorious house."

8 Who are these coming like a cloud, like a flight of doves to their windows?

8 Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

8 Who are these who fly like a cloud,like doves to their shelters?(L)

8 "Who are these that fly like clouds, and like doves to their windows?

9 Vessels of the sea-lands are waiting for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, so that your sons may come from far, and their silver and gold with them, to the place of the name of the Lord your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he has made you beautiful.

9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

9 “Surely the (U)coastlands will wait for Me;And the (V)ships of Tarshish will come first,To (W)bring your sons from afar,Their silver and their gold with them,For the name of the Lord your God,And for the Holy One of Israel because He has (f)(X)glorified you.

9 Yes, the islands will wait for Me(M)with the ships of Tarshish in the lead,(N)to bring your children from far away,(O)their silver and gold with them,for the honor of the Lord your God,the Holy One of Israel,(P)who has glorified you.(Q)

9 For the coastlands will look to me, with the ships of Tarshish in the lead, to bring my children from far away, their silver and gold with them, to the name of the LORD your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

10 And men from strange countries will be building up your walls, and their kings will be your servants: for in my wrath I sent punishment on you, but in my grace I have had mercy on you.

10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

10 (Y)Foreigners will build up your walls,And their (Z)kings will minister to you;For in My (AA)wrath I struck you,And in My favor I have had compassion on you.

10 Foreigners will build up your walls,(R)and their kings will serve you.(S)Although I struck you in My wrath,yet I will show mercy to you with My favor.(T)

10 "Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in my anger I struck you down, in my favor I have shown you mercy.

11 Your doors will be open at all times; they will not be shut day or night; so that men may come into you with the wealth of the nations, with their kings at their head.

11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

11 “Your (AB)gates will be open continually;They will not be closed day or night,So that men may (AC)bring to you the wealth of the nations,With (AD)their kings led in procession.

11 Your gates will always be open;they will never be shut day or nightso that the wealth of the nationsmay be brought into you,(U)with their kings being led in procession.

11 Your gates will always stand open by day or night, and they will not be shut, so that nations will bring you their wealth, with their kings led in procession.

12 For the nation or kingdom which will not be your servant will come to destruction; such nations will be completely waste.

12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

12 “For the (AE)nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish,And the nations will be utterly ruined.

12 For the nation and the kingdomthat will not serve you will perish;those nations will be annihilated.(V)

12 For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; those nations will be utterly ruined.

13 The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the cypress, the plane, and the sherbin-tree together, to make my holy place beautiful; and the resting-place of my feet will be full of glory.

13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

13 “The (AF)glory of Lebanon will come to you,The (AG)juniper, the box tree and the cypress together,To beautify the place of My sanctuary;And I shall make the (AH)place of My feet glorious.

13 The glory of Lebanon will come to you(W)its pine, fir, and cypress together(X)to beautify the place of My sanctuary,and I will glorify My dwelling place.(d)

13 "He has given you the glory of Lebanon, and it will come to you, the cypress, and the plane tree, and the pine, to adorn the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

14 And the sons of those who were cruel to you will come before you with bent heads; and those who made sport of you will go down on their faces at your feet; and you will be named, The Town of the Lord, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

14 “The (AI)sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you,And all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet;And they will call you the (AJ)city of the Lord,The (AK)Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

14 The sons of your oppressorswill come and bow down to you;(Y)all who reviled youwill fall facedown at your feet.(Z)They will call you the City of the Lord,Zion of the Holy One of Israel.(AA)

14 "All the descendants of those who oppressed you will come bending low before you, and all those who despised you will bow down at your feet. They'll call you "The City of the LORD,' "Zion of the Holy One of Israel.'"

15 And though you were turned away from, and hated, and had no helper, I will make you a pride for ever, a joy from generation to generation.

15 Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

15 “Whereas you have been (AL)forsaken and (AM)hatedWith no one passing through,I will make you an everlasting (AN)pride,A joy from generation to generation.

15 Instead of your being deserted and hated,with no one passing through,(AB)I will make you an object of eternal pride,(AC)a joy from age to age.

15 "Although you have been forsaken and despised, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride, the joy of all generations.

16 And you will take the milk of the nations, flowing from the breast of kings; and you will see that I, the Lord, am your saviour, and he who takes up your cause, the Strong One of Jacob.

16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

16 “You will also (AO)suck the milk of nationsAnd suck the breast of kings;Then you will know that I, the Lord, am your (AP)SaviorAnd your (AQ)Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

16 You will nurse on the milk of nations,and nurse at the breast of kings;(AD)you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior(AE)and Redeemer,(AF) the Mighty One of Jacob.(AG)

16 You'll suck the milk of nations, You'll suck the breasts of kings. Then you will realize that I, the LORD, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

17 In place of brass, I will give gold, and for iron silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: and I will make Peace your judge, and Righteousness your overseer.

17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold,And instead of iron I will bring silver,And instead of wood, bronze,And instead of stones, iron.And I will make peace your administratorsAnd righteousness your overseers.

17 I will bring gold instead of bronze;I will bring silver instead of iron,bronze instead of wood,and iron instead of stones.I will appoint peace as your guardand righteousness as your ruler.

17 "Instead of bronze, I'll bring gold, and instead of iron, I'll bring silver; instead of wood, bronze, and instead of stones, iron. I'll appoint peace as your supervisor and righteousness as your taskmaster.

18 Violent acts will no longer be seen in your land, wasting or destruction in your limits; but your walls will be named, Salvation, and your doors Praise.

18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.

18 (AR)Violence will not be heard again in your land,Nor (AS)devastation or destruction within your borders;But you will call your (AT)walls salvation, and your (AU)gates praise.

18 Violence will never again be heard of in your land;(AH)devastation and destructionwill be gone from your borders.But you will name your walls salvation(AI)and your gates, praise.

18 Then violence will no longer be heard in your land, nor devastation or destruction within your borders; but you'll call your walls "Salvation', and your gates "Praise'.

19 The sun will not be your light by day, and the moon will no longer be bright for you by night: but the Lord will be to you an eternal light, and your God your glory.

19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

19 “No longer will you have the (AV)sun for light by day,Nor for brightness will the moon give you light;But you will have the (AW)Lord for an everlasting light,And your (AX)God for your (g)glory.

19 The sun will no longer be your light by day,and the brightness of the moon will not shine on you;but the Lord will be your everlasting light,(AJ)and your God will be your splendor.

19 "The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness will the moon shine on you by night for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

20 Your sun will never again go down, or your moon keep back her light: for the Lord will be your eternal light, and the days of your sorrow will be ended.

20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

20 “Your (AY)sun will no longer set,Nor will your moon wane;For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light,And the days of your (AZ)mourning will be over.

20 Your sun will no longer set,and your moon will not fade;for the Lord will be your everlasting light,and the days of your sorrow will be over.(AK)

20 Your sun won't set, nor will your moon withdraw itself for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning will end.

21 Your people will all be upright, the land will be their heritage for ever; the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, to be for my glory.

21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

21 “Then all your (BA)people will be righteous;They will (BB)possess the land forever,The branch of (h)My planting,The (BC)work of My hands,That I may be (BD)glorified.

21 Then all your people will be righteous;(AL)they will possess the land forever;(AM)they are the branch I planted,the work of My(e) hands,so that I may be glorified.(AN)

21 Then your people will all be righteous; They'll possess the land forever. They are the shoot that the LORD planted, the works of his hands, so that I might be glorified.

22 The smallest of their families will become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I, the Lord, will make it come quickly in its time.

22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.

22 “The (BE)smallest one will become a (i)clan,And the least one a mighty nation.I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”

22 The least will become a thousand,the smallest a mighty nation.I am Yahweh;I will accomplish it quickly in its time.

22 The least of them will become a thousand, and the smallest one a mighty nation. "I am the LORD; When the time is right, I will do this swiftly."
