1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
1 "And I won't remain silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I won't stay quiet, until her vindication shines out like brightness, and her salvation like a burning torch.
1 For Zion’s sake I (Isaiah) will not be silent,And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet,Until her righteousness and vindication go forth as brightness,And her salvation goes forth like a burning torch.
2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
2 The nations will see your vindication, and all the kings your glory; and people will call you by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will bestow.
3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
3 You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD's hand, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4 It will no longer be said to you, “(b)(F)Forsaken,”Nor to your land will it any longer be said, “(c)Desolate”;But you will be called, “(d)My delight is in her,”And your land, “(e)(G)Married”;For the (H)Lord delights in you,And to Him your land will be married.
4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
4 You will no longer be called Deserted,(F)and your land will not be called Desolate;instead, you will be called My Delight is in Her,(a)and your land Married;(b)(G)for the Lord delights in you,and your land will be married.
4 And you'll no longer be called "Deserted,' and your land will no longer be called "Desolate'; but people will call you "Hephzibah,' and your land "Beulah' for the LORD will take delight in you, and your land will be married."
4 It will no longer be said of you [Judah], “Azubah (Abandoned),”Nor will it any longer be said of your land, “Shemamah (Desolate)”;But you will be called, “Hephzibah (My Delight is in Her),”And your land, “(b)Married”;For the Lord delights in you,And to Him your land will be married [owned and protected by the Lord].
5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
5 "For just as a young man marries a maiden, so your sons will marry you; and just as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you.
6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
6 "Upon your walls, Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen; all day and all night they won't remain silent. You who make mention of the LORD, take no rest,
6 On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed and stationed watchmen (prophets),Who will never keep silent day or night; You who profess the Lord, take no rest for yourselves,
7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
7 and give him no rest until he prepares, establishes and makes Jerusalem a song of praise throughout the earth.
7 And give Him no rest [from your prayers] until He establishes JerusalemAnd makes her a praise on the earth.
8 The LORD hath sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
8 "The LORD has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: "I will never again give your grain as food for your enemies; never again will foreigners drink your new wine for which you have toiled;
8 The Lord has sworn [an oath] by His right hand and by His mighty arm,“I will never again give your grain as food for your enemies,Nor will [the invading] foreigners drink your new wine for which you have labored.”
9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it, and praise the LORD; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
9 For those who gather grain will eat itand praise the Lord, and those who harvest the grapes will drink the winein My holy courts.
9 but surely those who harvest it will eat it and praise the name of the LORD, and those who gather it will drink it in the courts of my sanctuary,' says your God."
9 But they who have harvested it will eat it and praise the Lord,And they who have gathered it will drink it [at the feasts celebrated] in the courtyards of My sanctuary.
10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
10 "Pass through the gates! prepare the way for the people! Build up! Build up the highway! Clear it of stumbling stones, speak among the nations.
10 Go through, go through the gates,Clear the way for the people;Build up, build up the highway,Remove the stones, lift up a banner over the peoples.
11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 Here is the LORD! Proclaim to the ends of the earth, say to the inhabitants of Zion: "See, your salvation is coming! See, his reward is with him, and his recompenses are before him.'
12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
12 People will call them, "The Holy People,' "The Redeemed of the LORD'; and they will call you, "Sought After,' "The City Not Deserted.'"
12 And they will call them “The Holy People,The Redeemed of the Lord”;And you will be called “Sought Out, A City Not Deserted.”
