2 And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.

5 Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem?(I)Who will show sympathy toward you?(J)Who will turn asideto ask about your welfare?

5 "Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem, and who will grieve for you? Who will go out of his way to ask about your welfare?

Jeremiah Told To Repent

19 Therefore, thus says the Lord,(AV)If you return, then I will restore you—(AW)Before Me you will stand; And (AX)if you extract the precious from the worthless,You will become (f)My spokesman. They for their part may turn to you,But as for you, you must not turn to them.

19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them.

19 Therefore, this is what the Lord says:If you return, I will restore you;you will stand in My presence. And if you speak noble words, rather than worthless ones, you will be My spokesman.(Y)It is they who must return to you;you must not return to them.

19 Therefore, this is what the LORD says: "If you repent, I'll take you back and you will stand before me. If you speak what is worthwhile, instead of what is worthless, then you will be my spokesman. People will turn to you, but you aren't to turn to them.

19 Therefore, thus says the Lord [to Jeremiah],“If you repent [and give up this mistaken attitude of despair and self-pity], then I will restore you [to a state of inner peace]So that you may stand before Me [as My obedient representative];And if you separate the precious from the worthless [examining yourself and cleansing your heart from unwarranted doubt concerning My faithfulness],You will become My spokesman.Let the people turn to you [and learn to value My values]—But you, you must not turn to them [with regard for their idolatry and wickedness].

20 “Then I will (AY)make you to this peopleA fortified wall of bronze; And though they fight against you,They will not prevail over you;For (AZ)I am with you to save youAnd deliver you,” declares the Lord.

20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

20 Then I will make you a fortified wall of bronzeto this people. They will fight against youbut will not overcome you,for I am with youto save you and deliver you.(Z)This is the Lord’s declaration.

20 I'll make you a fortified wall of bronze to this people. They'll fight against you, but they won't prevail against you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you,"

20 “And I will make you to this peopleA fortified wall of bronze; They will fight against you,But they will not prevail over you,For I am with you [always] to save youAnd (b)protect you,” says the Lord.

21 “So I will (BA)deliver you from the hand of the wicked,And I will (BB)redeem you from the (g)grasp of the violent.”

21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

21 I will deliver you from the power of evil peopleand redeem you from the control of the ruthless.

21 So I'll deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless."
