Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?

Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of man’s hands.

For the Lord will judge His people
And will have compassion on His servants.

Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? And when have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them.

They have set up kings, but not by Me;

They have appointed princes, but I did not know it.
With their silver and gold they have made idols for themselves,
That they might be cut off.

You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of

Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that

gods made with hands are no gods at all.

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be

accursed!

However at that time, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those which by nature are no gods.
