Yet darest thou say, 'I am guiltless: Tush, his wrath cannot come upon me.' Behold, I will reason with thee because thou darest say, 'I have not offended.'

He that hideth his sins, shall not prosper; but who so knowledgeth them and forsaketh them, shall have mercy.

'I am clean without any fault, I am innocent, and there is no wickedness in me.

They seek of me righteous judgments, and will draw nigh unto God. Why have we fasted and thou hast not looked upon it? Have humbled our souls, and thou wouldest not wit it?

"Wherefore I am constrained, sayeth the LORD, to make my complaint upon you, and upon your children.

Say not now, 'I am not unclean, and I have not followed Baal.' Look upon thy own ways in the woods, valleys and dens: so shalt thou know, what thou hast done. Thou art like a swift Dromedary that goeth easily his way:

Wherefore then will ye go to law with me, seeing ye all are sinners against me, sayeth the LORD?

For the LORD hath a judgment to give upon all people, and will hold his court of justice with all flesh and punish the ungodly, sayeth the LORD.

I once lived without law: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I was dead.
