Therefore hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Behold, I have sworn by my great name,' says the LORD, 'that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As the Lord GOD lives."

and said, "I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

By myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear to God.

therefore, as I live," says the Lord GOD, "I will do according to your anger, and according to your envy which you have shown out of your hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge you.

A desolation

"Edom shall become an astonishment: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.

Its streams will be turned into pitch, its dust into sulfur, And its land will become burning pitch.

therefore thus says the Lord GOD, 'I will stretch out my hand on Edom, and will cut off man and animal from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; even to Dedan shall they fall by the sword.

"Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

Egypt will be a desolation, and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them, and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau." Indeed, the LORD has spoken.
